Shortly after the new Godzilla vs. Kong trailer debuted, WB has announced a new North American release date for Godzilla vs. Kong. While the upcoming film’s international release date remains the same, March 26, it will now be released domestically on Wednesday, March 31. WB did not give a reason for the few days’ shift, which puts its release in domestic theaters and on HBO MAx on a Wednesday as opposed to a Friday, but did additionally confirm that James Wan’s new film Malignant will be released on September 10.For more on the upcoming showdown, be sure to watch the new trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong above, read about why Kong is so much bigger in the new movie, and vote on whether you think Godzilla or Kong will actually win.

Original story follows:

Legendary has revealed a new poster for Godzilla vs. Kong in anticipation of a new trailer dropping on Sunday, January 24.This trailer will be the first full trailer for the movie released and while nobody knows exactly what’s going to happen in the movie, one thing is clear: Godzilla and Kong have a bone to pick with each other. That’s very apparent in the new poster Legendary revealed today, which shows Godzilla swimming toward a city seemingly under siege by Kong.

As you can see on the poster above, it seems that by the end of this movie, either Godzilla or Kong will have fallen and it’s likely we’ll get a tease of this impending face-off in the first ever trailer for the movie when it’s released on Sunday, January 24.

This new poster comes weeks before the movie is released on March 26. Godzilla vs. Kong was originally set to hit theaters in 2020, but COVID-19 shifted this movie’s release to a later date as it did for dozens of other films. It was then set for a March 21 release before it was delayed by five days to March 26 last week.

Godzilla vs. Kong is a sequel to 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and stars Millie Bobbie Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, and Rebecca Hall. It was directed by Adam Wingard, who is known for horror films like You’re Next, V/H/S, and Blair Witch.

A Visual History of Godzilla

This movie’s fight between its two titular monsters is what the 2014 Godzilla reboot has been building toward and it’s a face-off fans have been eager to see since the first footage of Godzilla vs. Kong was released late last year.

While waiting for the new trailer, check out this story about how some toy packaging might offer a sneak peek at Godzilla vs. Kong and then read about how Godzilla: King of the Monsters sets up Godzilla vs. Kong.
