SAVE $150.99: The Philips HTL3320/37 soundbar is on sale at Walmart for just $149 as of March 15 — that’s 50% off its $299.99 MSRP.
Whether it’s because we really missed going to the movies, bought a next-gen gaming console, desperately needed to see Bridgerton‘s Simon Basset in 4K, or simply had stimmies burning holes in our pockets, one thing’s for sure: A lot of us decided to upgrade our TVs while quarantining, per The NPD Group. A recent study from the research firm found that Americans bought almost 20% more displays in 2020 compared to the previous year, and 15% were 60 inches or larger (up from 11% in 2019).
Keep in mind that for all that TVs can do nowadays — play TikToks, roll up from the foot of your bed — there’s still a lot they can’t, especially when it comes to audio. Even some of the nicest 4K displays out there have tiny, tinny built-in speakers that face the wall. (A lot of that is to blame on the industry trend toward wall-hugging displays: It’s physically impossible to fit beefy speakers in a super slim TV that’s all screen.)
To improve your home theater experience without spending too much more money, grab a soundbar — they’re sleeker than multi-speaker surround sound systems and typically way less expensive. Walmart had the plug at the time of writing: We saw the Philips HTL3320/37 soundbar on sale there for a mere $149, or half off its usual retail price of $299.99.
Powered by Dolby Audio, this 300-watt soundbar features three channels, or audio sources, with mid-range drivers and tweeters (for higher-pitched frequencies) and a crystal-clear central speaker (for enhanced dialogue). Note that it also comes with a separate wireless subwoofer (for oomph-y bass) that gets placed somewhere nearby; you can control the whole setup with another device via Bluetooth or USB connection.
Mashable hasn’t reviewed the Philips HTL3320/37, but Walmart customers seem to be huge fans — the last time we checked, it had an impressive 4.9/5-star rating on the store’s website with high marks for “sound” and “ease of installation.” User Vincent writes:
“I was looking for a good value, great sounding sound bar for my office. I stream music via my phone and require BT [Bluetooth] functionality . Since I also watch movies in my office, I was hoping to kill two birds with one device and this sound bar met those needs plus more. The set up was easy and the sound quality was more than I was expecting at this price. I highly recommend this product for value and performance.”
