The Premier League season will come around quickly for 2021/22 and today’s the day all clubs find out the route they’ll take through the year, with the release of the new term’s fixtures.

Last season saw Manchester City emerge triumphant as the winners, followed by rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, who ended third despite an injury-hit campaign.

Fourth was sealed by Chelsea despite defeat on the final day, as Leicester City also lost to slip out of the Champions League places on the final weekend for the second year in a row.

Huge improvements were seen from Aston Villa, Leeds United in their first campaign back in the top flight and, most notably, West Ham United – who will be in the Europa League along with the Foxes this year.

The Premier League also welcomes back Norwich City and Watford after just a one-year absence, while Brentford joined them in being promoted after triumphing in the play-off final, having stumbled at that final hurdle one year earlier. Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United were relegated after each finishing at least 11 points from safety last term.

Fans traditionally look forward to seeing who their clubs will face during the busy Christmas period and on Boxing Day, who they play on the final day of the season, when rival clashes and derbies take place and, of course, who their opening opponent will be. All that and every game besides will be revealed at 9am today.

Follow the release of the 2021/22 season Premier League fixtures for every club below:

Tough start for Lage

It’s an intimidating start to Premier League life for new Wolves manager Bruno Lage, as he opens his English career at Leicester followed by Spurs and Manchester United at Molineux to start the season.

A difficult December includes games against Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Wolves travel to Stamford Bridge and Anfield to close the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Newcastle v West Ham to open on 14 August

This is the third time Newcastle United and West Ham have met in their first Premier League matches of the season, after 2002-03 and last year – where Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick earned a 2-0 win for the Magpies.

The only such fixture to be played more often in Premier League history is Newcastle vs Tottenham (four).

Opening day dismay for City?

Spurs have faced Manchester City in their opening top-flight match of the season on three previous occasions, losing none of those matches.

Manchester City have lost 15 away Premier League matches against Spurs, including in the last two seasons. Pep Guardiola’s side have only lost more away Premier League matches against Liverpool – 16.

Tottenham Premier League fixtures 2021/22

It was another rollercoaster year in north London with Jose Mourinho’s turbulent reign ultimately coming to a premature end before Ryan Mason saw them through to Europa League qualification.

It will be a new manager in charge when the 2021/22 campaign begins however with Paulo Fonseca, formerly of Roma, set to be handed the reins.

Fonseca to Spurs?

Tottenham are reportedly close to confirming Paulo Fonseca as their new manager, and he will have to hit the ground running – and I’m not even talking about the Premier League season.

We are yet to find out where Harry Kane will be playing his football come the start of the new campaign, and the England captain has been relentlessly linked with a move away from Spurs.

Could the England striker even be lining up against them on that opening day when they face Manchester City?

10 games to define title race

Pep Guardiola’s side open up at Tottenham, who will have a new manager in place, while Liverpool will look to rebound after a tough season and challenge once more.

Jurgen Klopp’s side begin their season at Norwich, while Thomas Tuchel has shown signs of a potential title push by inspiring Chelsea to Champions League glory, proving they have the match for City with their third win in two months over Guardiola’s champions.

Break for European players in January?

Looking at the 2021/22 Premier League fixtures, 29 January is left blank as it is a FIFA international window.

However, UEFA are not included in the window where every other confederation is, so this weekend essentially turns into a mini break for European players.

Arsenal Premier League fixtures 2021/22

The Gunners endured another difficult campaign in 2020/21 as boss Mikel Arteta continues to work hard towards what he wants his side to be.

There are signs of encouragement with the league double over eventual European champions Chelsea and run to the Europa League semi-finals good examples, but more will be expected next season.

Norwich handed tough start versus Liverpool

This is the fourth time Norwich City will face Liverpool in their opening top-flight match of the season.

They have won none of the previous three, losing twice – including in their last Premier League season in 2019-20 when they lost 4-1 at Anfield in a fixture that would kickstart the Reds’ title-winning season.

Liverpool’s five opening Premier League matches under Jurgen Klopp have seen 29 goals scored in total, with the Reds unbeaten in all five despite conceding three goals in three of those games.

2016/17 Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool

2017/18 Watford 3-3 Liverpool

2018/19 Liverpool 4-0 West Ham

2019/20 Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

2020/21 Liverpool 4-3 Leeds

Premier League fixtures 2021/22: Full match schedule confirmed for next season

The fixtures for the 2021/22 Premier League season have been confirmed.

Manchester City will be looking to defend the title they won last term – a third in four years under manager Pep Guardiola – while dethroned champions Liverpool will be hoping for a better season than the one that ended with them third.

Manchester United finished second behind their rivals but will be optimistic a true title challenge is just around the corner as they hope to end their wait for a first league title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure. Their first game is a derby against local rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford.
