Indian women’s hockey team get one step closer to win an Olympic Gold, leaving the entire nation excited for the finals at the Tokyo Games 2020. The women scripted a historic moment on Monday by marking their maiden entry into the semifinals of the Olympics hockey tournament by defeating world No. 2 Australia 1-0 in the quarterfinals at the Oi Hockey Stadium. Team Australia had dominated the tournament so far and was one of the favourites to win the gold medal.

Back home, corporate India was more than overjoyed as it hoped to see the Indian heroes bring a gold back for the country.

With one of Twitter’s most-trending hashtags – #BharatKiBeti – Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD & CEO Radhika Gupta claimed that Shahrukh Khan-starrer ‘Chak De India’ wasn’t just a filmy affair.

“And she can beat the best in the world on the biggest stage in the world,” her caption read.

Gautam Adani, the Chairman of Adani Group, said he was proud to see the Indian women’s team reach the hockey semifinal for the first time, ever.

He praised Captain Rani Rampal for leading the team that pulled off a ‘Chak De! India’ performance against Australia – which have three Olympic golds. “India’s flag is flying high. Go for Gold,” he wrote.

Calling the women’s hockey win an ‘icing on the cake’, Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and MD of JSW Group, was also bowled over by all the medals won by the women of India at Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji took some time off from his busy schedule to share a minute-long video featuring long jump athletes Mutaz Barshim of Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy. The duo became the first joint Olympic podium winners in athletics since 1912. The Italian and Qatari athletes on Sunday had decided to not participate in a tie-breaking jump-off after they cleared the same height. Both passionately embraced each other and went out to celebrate their shared gold.

The tech titan lauded the “incredible moment in sport, sportsmanship and humanity.”
