  • “Nobody is deprived of government schemes. All government schemes were implemented in all areas of the state without making any discrimination in the name of religion or other affiliations,” he said.

Adhering to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s universal policy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Bikash and Sabka Viswas’, Sonowal said that the government has been working to stimulate welfare of all sections of the people of the state living in all the 34 districts of the state, Sonowal added.

He further said that during the regime of the Congress, the party deprived Lower Assam areas of development. However, in stark contrast, the BJP-led government immediately after coming to power took special steps for the development of Lower Assam. His government took initiatives for the infrastructural development of Lower Assam districts.

He also said that the BJP led government apart from laying foundation for Multi-modal Logistic Park at Jogighopa also started work for Dhubri Medical College, Asia’s longest Dhubri-Phulbari bridge over the Brahmaputra among others.

Moreover, the government established Girls’ College in minority dominated areas. Sonowal also said that because of BJP led government’s intense desire for the development of the people of religious minorities, the government set up 21 residential schools in the minority dominated areas. He also said that the government conduced survey in the char areas for allotting land pattas (certificate) to the people belonging to minority areas. As against the divisive policies of the Congress, the BJP led government united all sections of the people and strengthened the bond of friendship and camaraderie in the state.

Sonowal also said that he as the Chief Minister visited Dhubri, South Salmara, Mankachar several times to expedite their socio-economic and educational development. However, the Congress could never show such generosity in enabling its Chief Minister to visit these places.

Sonowal said that during such visits, he himself interacted with the people belonging to minority communities, realised their problems and took steps for their welfare. He also said that during the BJP rule the religious minorities always felt secured and they were not subjected to any inconveniences.

Congress encouraged differences, however, the BJP advocated harmony. He also reiterated that as long as the BJP led government remains in power, the future of all sections of the people including the minority will remain secured.
