BRC dedicates Infantry Day to family of Galwan valley martyrs, felicitates them | India News


PATNA: The Bihar Regimental Centre dedicated Infantry Day celebration of Indian Army to families of Galwan valley martyrs by felicitating them in a special programme held inside its Akhaura auditorium at Danapur in state capital on Tuesday.
Out of the 20, 12 martyrs including commanding officer Colonel B Santosh Babu were from 12 and 16 Bihar regiment who laid down their life while fiercely countering PLA soldiers at Galwan on June 15 resulting a heavy casualty to the opponents too.
Bikumalla Santhoshi, wife of martyred Colonel Babu, with her elder daughter Abhigna and son Anirudh Teja and family members of 11 others martyrs had reached at BRC to attend the programme who were felicitated by centre’s commandant Brigadier Alok Khurana.
These family members had reached from Telangana, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odhisa, Chattishgarh and different parts of Bihar. A especial video dedicated to Galwan brave-hearts was played on the occasion with message that one who caused these martyrdom would have to pay the price one day.
The martyred officer’s wife while interacting with media, said she now dreams that her son also joins Bihar regiment of Indian Army in future to complete unfulfilled dreams of her husband. Visibly emotional and controlling her tears, she said there’s not a single day when children don’t recall their father.
Colonel Babu’s brother-in-law Muktheeshwar Erukulla who had also reached Patna while interacting with TOI, said Anirudh still asks that why his father doesn’t talks to him or makes call. “Abhigna knows the reality. She cries every day remembering her martyred father,” he said.
While playing with his maternal his uncle, Anirudh told this newspaper that he studies in LKG while Abhigna said she studies in class-IV.
“Santhoshi is now keeping busy as she is undergoing training for position of probationary deputy collector in Hyderabad,” Erukulla added.
Speaking on the occasion, Major general Rajpal Punia, general officer commanding (GOC) of Jharkhand and Bihar sub-area of Indian army said martyrdom of Galwan brave-hearts had pushed China on backfoot and they will remain so.
“These martyrs had taught a big lesson to our neighbour who used to think that they could do anything. The effect of Galwan martyrdom would reflect on global level in future,” he said.
Punia urged Khurana to erect a memorial for the Galwan martyrs at BRC for remembering them.
BRC had also set up camps on the occasion to accept all relevant documents from family members of martyrs to process any pending work related to extending all kind of facilities they are eligible for. BRC authorities said special messengers were sent to residences of all these family earlier to know what work is pending and to gather relevant required documents.
Besides Colonel Babu’s wife, martyrs naib subedar Nuduram Soren’s wife Laxmi Mani Soren, havildar Sunil Kumar’s wife Reeti Devi, sepoy Chandrakant Pradhan’s mother and aunt Bilasini Pradhan and Malati Pradhan, sepoy Kundan Kumar Ojha’s wife Namrata Devi, sepoy Rajesh Orang’s mother Mamta Orang, sepoy Ganesh Ram’s mother Jageshwari Devi, sepoy Chandan Kumar’s mother Dharma Devi, sepoy Kundan Kumar’s wife Baby Devi, sepoy Ganesh Hansda’s mother Kapra Hansda, sepoy Aman Kumar’s wife Minu Kumari and sepoy Jai Kishor Singh’s father Rajkapur Singh were those who were felicitated on the occasion.
