TL;DR – These are the Best Big and Tall Gaming Chairs:
1. Secretlab Titan XL 2020 Series
Best Big and Tall Gaming Chair
We already thought Secretlab’s Titan 2020 Series chair was great, but then it made the even larger Titan XL 2020 Series (read our review). The XL takes that softest gaming chair we’ve ever sat in, and makes it bigger and capable of holding even more weight. The Titan XL 2020 Series can hold up to 390 pounds, and it offers comfort for whoever sitting in it thanks to its mix of “cold cure foam.”
It can feel a bit firm because of the dense foam, but it offers excellent support. That’ll help you with better posture and comfort while gaming, though a little less comfort while lounging. We like the PU leather model plenty, but the SoftWeave Fabric makes everything a bit softer and more breathable. This one is a definite winner for those seeking quality comfort and excellent materials.
2. Homall High-Back Racing Chair
Best Budget Big and Tall Gaming Chair
There aren’t many budget gaming chairs in the big and tall category. After-all their very nature requires robust construction and use of more materials than a traditional gaming chair. However, this $90 Homall chair offers the support and features of a $400-plus racing chair for less than a quarter of the price.
It supports up to 300 pounds and it has a fairly long 30.5-inch backrest so it’ll help support users with tall torsos. Unfortunately, this seat won’t accommodate all body shapes as the seat is pretty narrow measuring only 14.5-inches and it sits fairly low to the ground, so expect a few sacrifices with at this low of a price point.
3. Respawn 400
Best Midrange Big and Tall Gaming Chair
The Respawn 400 is a surprisingly robust gaming chair for its roughly $240 price. It’s sturdy enough to support up to 400 pounds of weight and it has one of the biggest seats measuring 24.25- by 24.25-inches. It’s also fairly short with only a maximum seat height of 19.5-inches, so it might not be the best choice for users with really long legs.
Overall though, this is an impressively strong and large gaming chair that also offers 4D armrests and 130-degrees of recline. Big and tall users on a budget will want to check out this gaming chair.
4. DXRacer Tank
Best High-Capacity Gaming Chair
DXRacer is one of the most well-respected names in gaming chairs, so it should come as no surprise they also make an excellent racing-style chair for big and tall gamers. As the name suggests, this chair is built like a tank and is capable of supporting up to 450 pounds, which makes it the highest weight capacity gaming chair we’ve found so far.
Its backrest can accommodate gamers up to 6’7”, making the DXRacer Tank is one of the tallest chairs on this list. In fact, DXRacer only recommends this chair for people at least 6’1” tall. There are several tilt options, as well as an extra-wide seating base and it comes with not one, but two gas canisters that support the frame. Unfortunately, all of those features don’t come cheap as it’ll set you back about $600.
5. Maxnomic XL-Series
Best Gaming Chair for Tall Gamers
If you’re tired of never having headrest support because all the gaming chairs are too short, the Maxnomic XL-Series might be for you. This gaming chair is designed for users up to seven-feet tall. It can also handle up to 375 pounds in weight, so it’s quite a bit sturdier than most other gaming chairs.
Like the DXRacer, all this robustness comes at a cost and you’ll be paying more than $600 to get this chair—but it’s one to consider you’re a big gamer.
6. Corsair T2 Road Warrior
Best Gaming Chair for Gamers with Long Legs
Not everyone is tall in the same way and if your legs are particularly long, the Corsair T2 Road Warrior might be for you. This gaming chair offers the greatest amount of seat height that we’ve seen at 23.6-inches. Additionally, it has a 300-pound weight capacity, along with a 34.6-inch tall backrest and medium-sized 19.7- by 22-inch seat to support the rest of your body while seated.
As with most gaming chairs in this class, you get 4D adjustable armrests. You can also get a bit more horizontal in the Corsair T2 Road Warrior, as it can tip back to a 170-degree angle.
7. noblechairs HERO
Best Ergonomic Big and Tall Gaming Chair
The P-Line 6000 from Vertagear just looks like a big-boy gaming chair, doesn’t it? If there’s any doubt, this racing-style throne can support up to 400 pounds and is designed for users up to a height of 6’8”, so there’s plenty of room here.
As you might have guessed, a chair with that offers such a high level of support features a heavy-duty steel frame. Under the chair, you’ll find a five-wheel aluminum base, so this chair is really built on a strong foundation. On top of that you get plenty of plushy comfort thanks to a headrest pillow, lumbar support, and the foam padding.
9. AKRacing Max Gaming Chair
Best Racing-Style Big and Tall Gaming Chair
AKRacing has been making waves in the gaming chair market since the fad started and its Max Gaming Chair sets an impressive bar for big and tall gamers. Under its tough steel frame, the Max Gaming Chair is loaded with a custom heavy-duty gas piston for adjusting your height and supporting gamers.
AKRacing claims the Titan can accommodate users weighing up to 400 pounds. Meanwhile, its 34.2-inch tall backrest should accommodate users over 6’9″ tall. Like AKRacing’s name would suggest, this big and tall gaming chair fully embraces the racing style. And, when you want to lounge, it’s 90 degrees of tilt offer plenty of flexibility. Better yet, the Rock It & Lock It features lets you set the tension for rocking and even lock in a relaxed angle.
What to Look for in a Big and Tall Gaming Chair
No two people are exactly the same—and that even includes twins—and so you should find the right gaming chair that will cater to your specific body shape.
The first thing you should look for when buying a big and tall gaming chair is how much weight they’ll support. Obviously, there’s no point in buying a chair that’ll crumble under your weight.
From here, picking the right big and tall gaming chairs gets a bit more complicated with picking one with an appropriately sized backrest as well as seat height and size.
Those with a long torso should buy a gaming chair with a tall backrest that’s at least 30 inches tall. Gaming chairs are classically taller than your average office chair, which allows them to do a better job of supporting your neck and shoulders. Big and tall gaming chairs take this a step farther by giving users a jumbo sized backrest.
Alternatively, users with long legs will want a chair that can be at least 20 inches tall. This measurement from the top of the seat to the floor and it defines how your legs will hang off then end of the chair. For the most optimal ergonomics your knees should come to a 90-degree angle with the bottom of your feet just touching the floor.
Lastly, seat size is important for making sure you can comfortably sit down. Normal gaming chairs have a sculpted bucket seat that looks cool but ultimately makes the actual seating area narrow. Big and tall users need to look a chair with a flatter, if not completely flat, seat that measures at least 20 inches wide. Seat depth is also important for users with long upper legs and they should find a chair that’s more than 20 inches deep.
